Best Lawyers in America® Recognizes Excellence of James Nolletti and his Team for 12th Consecutive Year

Once again, our Founder and Managing Partner, James Nolletti has been chosen to be included in the annual Best Lawyers in America® listing. Inclusion in the 31st edition of Best Lawyers in America will mark the 12th consecutive time James has been recognized by the organization, which conducts peer review analysis of top attorneys in conjunction with U.S. News & World Report. This year, Best Lawyers in America also selected Divorce Attorney Alexandra M. Maxwell for inclusion on the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America listing.

Selection for these lists indicate that other attorneys practicing in the field think very highly of an attorney’s work on a regular basis. Inclusion is about more than obtaining a spectacular result in a single case. It requires a demonstrated pattern of excellence. “It’s an honor to be selected for the Best Lawyer list when I practice among so many talented and dedicated attorneys,” James noted. “To be given preference over esteemed colleagues is humbling, and I will work to continue to earn the confidence placed in me by my peers.”

Selection Process for Best Lawyers in America

To be included among the Best Lawyers in America, an attorney must first be nominated. This step is the only part in the process where someone who is not a lawyer practicing in the field is allowed to have input. Attorneys can be nominated for the Best Lawyers list by professionals in related fields or clients, as well as their peers in the law. Attorneys who were on the list in the prior year, such as James has been for well over ten years, are nominated automatically. But they must go through the same evaluation process as attorneys who are receiving a nomination for the first time.

Once an attorney is nominated, their service, skill, knowledge, and other components of their practice are evaluated by other attorneys practicing in the same field and geographic area. Attorneys are asked to rate how confident they would feel referring a legal matter to that candidate. If a voting attorney is asked to give an opinion about an attorney whose work they are unfamiliar with, they are required to abstain from voting.

Those attorneys who receive the highest scores are selected to be included in the edition of Best Lawyers in America for that year. Candidates who are still building their careers and who have been in practice for no more than nine years may be considered for the category of “Ones to Watch.”

Looking Forward

While it provides a sense of accomplishment to look back on achievements and enjoy awards such as recognition by Best Lawyers in America, the team at Nolletti Law Group knows that what they have done in the past is not as important as what they will do in the future. “We are grateful for the mark of respect shown by our peers,” James explained, “but what matters most to us to continue building on our reputation for excellence by providing outstanding service to clients now and in the days ahead.”
